Description:

The past few weeks have shone a spotlight on some of the nation’s most entrenched divides. This may be the first time you’ve heard terms like “implicit bias”, “unconscious bias”, and “anti-bias”. If you’re wondering what it all means, and what you can do to identify bias, this program will explain how biases have allowed us to achieve remarkable cognitive advancement, but they can also cause unconscious discrimination. We must all examine our own biases to ensure that we are creating an inclusive culture for staff, providers, and patients and neutralize any disparities our biases may have contributed to.

Session Objectives:
  • Explain the concepts of conscious and unconscious biases
  • Discuss simple methods attendees can use immediately to test for unconscious bias in themselves
  • Explore how attendees can train their teams, staff members, providers, etc, to confront bias in themselves and others
